Each summer since 2009 Synergy has provided students with free transportation to Louisville, Kentucky and the internationally known Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops. Financial assistance is made available for those showing need and interest.
The Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops assembles more than 60 of the nation's leading educators and performers dedicated to providing an intensive learning experience for musicians of all ages and levels. Students are placed in one of five levels of theory classes and in combos matched with others of similar ability.
One unique aspect of the workshop is the inclusion of students of all ages. It is not uncommon to see a young musician jamming with someone's grandparent. In fact the ratio of adults to kids is about 60-40. This kind of interaction between the generations is paramount in developing the lines of communication that will keep music relevant throughout the student's lives.
Each full day of classes and rehearsals are accented with lunch time and evening performances by faculty members, many of whom grace the clubs of New York City and Jazz festivals throughout the world. These world class performances alone are worth the price of tuition.
